I mentioned in passing during the week that the Blog Awards are on again this year.

Nominations are open and you can nominate the site of your choice over here.  I’m not sure when they are losing the nominations as if they have a closing date, I can’t see it.

I am not canvassing for votes for this site for several reasons.

First and foremost, I won two awards last year which was somewhat humbling, but I never had the grace to attend the ceremony.  Winning two awards made it doubly embarrassing, and I would be ashamed to show my face there.

Secondly I honestly think there is better shit out there.  The inane ramblings of a pensioner up in the mountains is hardly the stuff of awards and prizes? 

Thirdly, I am disqualified under the two categories where I normally seem to end up. 

The first is Best Personal Blog.  This category “is open to those who blog about anything in their personal lives with passion”.  I don’t particularly.  I ramble on about a lot of stuff and there is some personal stuff there but it is rarely passionate.  Herself says I have forgotten the meaning of the word passion anyway.  Or maybe they just mean that the site has to be written about life with someone called Passion?

The other category is Best Humour Blog.  There are two problems here.  The first is that the site has to be “side-splittingly funny” which in my opinion disqualifies this from the start.  Also they spell “Humour” incorrectly so they have disqualified themselves anyway.

There is a sneaking temptation to enter under the Best Designed category, if only for the thought of all those judges being flicked off as they examine my site?  I will however resist.

So head over to my Links Page for a drop of inspiration.  I grant that there are quite a few foreigners in there, from the US and the UK and a few other quare spots too but a fair chunk are Irish, and they must be quality sites or they wouldn’t be there.  So go and vote for them.
