I am not someone who gets easily annoyed..

But that Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland has really fucking pissed me off.

Unacceptable? Unacceptable? Who the blind fuck does she think she is? If I throw my doors open and invite anyone who is homeless to spend the night, I don’t expect them to whinge about my furniture or the state of my home. If they want to have private thoughts that’s fair enough but to go on record declaring my home is unacceptable is just not on. Furthermore I would feel fully entitled to take that person and unceremoniously fuck them back onto the street again.

I would have Ms Gerasko know that last winter there were were over 10,000 men women and children homeless in this country with many of them on the streets at night. We were in the middle of a housing crisis. So when the war broke out did we say sorry, no room, house full? No. In the usual virtue signalling gesture so beloved of our gubmint we declared that Ireland would take as many as possible and all would be welcome.

Since then, our own 10,000 [and more] are still homeless yet we have taken in 54,000 Ukrainians to top up the mess. Just about every single available bed has been taken up to the point where the gubmint is begging people with spare rooms to volunteer a bed. They have even built tent cities to accommodate refugees.

Last week we reached capacity. For the moment there are no more beds. More Ukrainians arrived and had to sleep in the airport. I grant that this isn’t ideal but at least they had some kind of roof over their beds. There were no air raid sirens to wake them. There were no missiles slamming into them. If I were amongst those refugees I would be really fucking happy to be somewhere safe and peaceful and the fact that I had to sleep on a floor would be a relatively minor inconvenience.

But calling it unacceptable?

Fuck off.
