Brain Soup
The radio is on in the other room.
Herself has the volume up [as usual] so I am being treated to a debate on current affairs. Frankly my head is spinning as no sooner have they baffled me on one subject than they switch to another topic.
So far I have been treated to a discourse on the Virus and how we are seeing “record numbers” of infections Some are calling for the reintroduction of regulations as it is apparently “Covid Soup” out there. They agree that it is endemic and pretty mild by most standards but the hospitals are once again being “overwhelmed” [another word very high in the popularity stakes these days]. In other words Something Must Be Done.
Then they switched to “Long Covid” which is, according to them, a new phenomenon. I can tell them it has been around for a very long time. It’s called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS and I know all about it as I have it for years. It is fucking irritating as the smallest exercise leaves me knackered for days after. I’m only just over my trip to Skobieville.
Next on the topic list was of course Ukraine. What is Putin up to? I don’t know why they even try to discuss that as no one knows, least of all, I imagine, Putin himself. What is he going to do next? Same answer. You might as well try to predict the flight path of a fly.
Now they’re on to inflation and how we should cope with the rising prices. At this point I have mentally switched off and the talk has become a background buzz. No. Sorry. The topic has just switched from the British royal family to the Oscars. Is it any wonder my head’s in a spin?
I have bigger things to worry about.
I have to try to find the instruction manual so I can put my watch forward an hour.
At least the evenings will be brighter.
And the mornings more sleep-in inducing? Tis over this way.
I forgot to reset Herself’s clock so I was denied my extra hour. Life is a bitch sometimes.
