All the news
It has been an interesting day or two.
We had yet another hospital trip yesterday and Herself has been passed off as fixed. 20/20 vision, apparently.
Then there was the hoohah over “the first vaccination”. Assuming that places all over the UK were ready to start pumping the vaccine, isn’t it amazing that the first dose was given just where the cameras happened to be?
Our Leo “believes the pandemic will end next year“. That’s nice. Having run out of facts to leak to the press, he’s now resorting to his imagination and beliefs?
I got a letter today informing my car is due its official test. They didn’t say when but when I queried this I discovered it’s due on the 4th of January. What a fucking great start to the new year?
While on the subject of the car I remembered that its tax was due too at the end of the month. I went to renew it and needed my insurance details. I couldn’t find the insurance certificate! I then found that the displayed disk had expired last April. So much for all the roadblocks I have passed through since? Luckiy I found the certificate and the disk is now correct.
Another bit of excitement was the latest update to WordPress. I updated it this morning. Then I discovered that I couldn’t scribble a new post. I just got a blank screen and nothing else. Fuck! I had to rewind the site back to the old version just so I could scribble this and will probably have to spend the day working what is going wrong and where.
I discovered last night I was down to my last two litres of whiskey. That’s not good. I managed to slip in an order for delivery today. They are due any time now, as if I didn’t have enough on my plate.
Isn’t my life exciting?

Vaccines are like computer software, smart users always wait for version 2.0 at least.
On the subject of cars, a bloke down the road has an '07 Dublin registered Astra up for sale for several months, beginning at £1250, now down to £1000. Suddenly occurred to me that the speedo might be a problem, you blighters having succumbed to that invention of the Devil, the Metric System. Are Irish speedos only calibrated in kph? It will need changing to one calibrated in real money before it can legally be driven here. Expensive, I expect. But at least the steering wheel's on the right side!
Good point. The new system [for those who can only count to ten] came in here around '05 so it's more than likely it has the new speedo. The old speedos used to have kmph marked on them as well [as small little digits] but the newer ones are kmph only.
