What do you do when you have something that is working well?
The answer, as any red blooded male worthy of the title will tell you, is to take it apart and probably break it.
Whether it be a clock or a car or anything in between, there is always that nagging feeling that it can be improved upon. In the case of a car, maybe a tweak or two might make it go a bit faster. In the case of a clock, maybe a tweak or two make stop it going a bit faster. There is always that nagging itch at the back of the mind that whatever it is, it can be improved with a judicious tweak or a belt of a hammer.
This site is running well. That’s why I am going to break it.
It has a little problem that doesn’t affect it now but will probably affect it quite seriously in the future. I tried building a duplicate site from scratch and the problem disappeared which was irritating because it told me that the problem was fixable but it still didn’t tell me the cause. So the only recourse is to do the same with the live site.
It’s a bit pointless writing this little explanation, because if you go looking for the site and it isn’t there, then you won’t be able to read this. On the other hand, if you can read this then maybe I haven’t started yet, or I am in the middle and the page is only temporarily visible or maybe I have finished and the site is back up.
Enough of this.
Time to roll up my sleeves and get dirty……..
Three hours later……
Fuck! Short of rebuilding the site from scratch which means redesigning the whole thing from scratch, I’m stumped.
Maybe I’ll try again sometime…..
