Lugubriousness

Today’s word is lugubrious.

It nicely sums up the way I am feeling at the moment.

I had a rough night and didn’t get to sleep until dawn.  Then a delivery arrived early and got me out of bed after only a couple of hours.

Not a good start.

I decided to cheer myself by trawling the day’s headlines.

Big mistake.

It was the usual clatter of murders, deaths, gang warfare and probably the most depressing – the Golden Globe Awards – a celebration of the banal by the braindead.  Not one cheerful item.  Not even one politician squashed by a double decker bus.

Then the thought struck me that maybe this is Blue Monday?

It isn’t.  I have that to look forward to next week.

Now it has started to snow.

Fuck!

Your mission for today is to cheer me up.

    • Well…….  Let's just say it hasn't increased the lugubriosity.  Mind you, I'm cheered that that last word just fucked up my spell check?!

      • I said the same thing myself to that studmuffin at the weekend GD.. he was thrilled with himself!

Ok this sometimes cheers me up.. Not in the typical sense, but the images used remind me I'm not the only one.

What else? I saw this one recently –

Let's see…Balls said the queen, if I had two I'd be king.
My cat's a big fan of Paul Simon. You can call meow.

I rang the RSPCA yesterday and said, "I have just found my dog lying down in a puddle of blood in my back garden."
"That's awful," she said. "Is it moving?"
        "Quite emotional, yes."

        Alright I won't torment you anymore.. 🙂

    • Hah!  Thanks David.

"What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hell's Angels is currently unclear," a police spokesman said.

      I love it!!
