Full of the joys of Spring
According to Meteorologists, today is the first day of Spring.
Hah!
I woke this morning to find snow everywhere. And snow was still falling.
There is about an inch of the white stuff out there and most will probably scoff at that and say that’s nothing. I agree. But bear in mind that I’m up a mountain so I would expect those at lower levels would have far less than an inch. Nevertheless it is causing chaos – bus and train cancellations, school closures and worst of all, stalled bin collections.
I forgot to put out my green bin for the last collection. As a result my green bin and my backup bin are now filled to capacity which is fine as today is Green Bin Collection Day. My bin is now out at the end of the lane waiting expectantly for the lorry. But then I got a text to say that because of the snow they don’t know if the lorry will be along to collect it. Fucking typical!
Met Eireann have been on the radio with red faces. Well, I assume their faces were red as you can’t see on the radio. They are so embarrassed as they had no idea there was going to be snow until it started falling. They are talking about a retrospective orange warning which is clever. That’s weather forecasters for you. Or have they become aftcasters?
I have to go out later down to the village. Nothing important. Just fags and medications for Herself. But then if she runs out of either she goes into full werewolf mode so I had better go.
I still haven’t heard back from the insulation crowd. Today would have been an ideal day to rip out all my windows?
I just got another text confirming that my electricity meter is to be upgraded [downgraded?] on Monday.
Snow permitting, of course.
So, pretty much a typical day at Granddad’s place?
Pretty much…..
Wot you mean, first day of spring? Tis the first day of autumn, and it’s 28 degrees.
Ah but you’re heading into Winter while we are doubtless going to experience the hottest summer in the last hundred and fifty thousand years.
Lang may yer lum reek.
I went all throgh thr winter of 1980 and into 1981 with nice mild weather only to be spoiled in April 1981 by a weekend of snow !
We seem tto be getting a little more snow than in the past [not much, just a little]. Maybe it’s Global Warmed snow?
