Just a normal week in Paradise
It has been a busy few days.
The chimney job is now finished. Daughter and her current fancy-man [Navanman] came and sorted it and the stack is now capped with a nice cage. The birds can fuck off somewhere else. I don’t know what I would do without Navanman.
I have been offloading web sites again. I found a way of “flattening” a site so it is just a series of individual pages rather than having to rely on a database and a load of software. “Smoking – On Ethics” has been flattened as is now tiny by comparison and a lot faster. I tried the same treatment on “Anna Raccoon” but it’s an enormous site and I gave up the flattening after eighteen hours of processing with no end in sight. It did occur to me though that the process removes the ability to search the site so I’ll leave it as it is.
Now I have to sort out a grocery order for delivery this week. Because of the impending siege it’s going to be a rather large order as I may not get a delivery within the next fortnight.
I’m really looking forward to the siege [yeah! right!!]. Apparently I am going to be woken every morning with pneumatic drills just outside my bedroom window at eight. Jesus wept! I usually sleep on until ten or eleven so eight o’clock? Have they no heart? And they reckon on five to ten days of this?
There are of course other considerations. I had better not set the house on fire as of course the brigade can’t get here. Not that that would make any difference as in normal times they would probably arrive in time to dampen down the embers in a smoking ruin.
Also I had better postpone any heart attacks and Herself will have to refrain from falling and breaking something as ambulances will be out of the question.
Presumably we won’t be able to put out the bins either? Mine will just have to stay festering in the front garden. Or maybe I’ll just empty them into the pit that was the lane? They can pad out the foundations. My own little contribution to the effort?
Time to head down to the village for fags, milk and a coffee.
I won’t be able to do that next week either…….
Fuck off, Rooks
Ah, but just think of how nice it will be to have brand new road. And a paved road no less.
