Rapid progress at a snail’s pace
Today is a good day.
Or rather it’s as good a day as could be expected with a background of aches and bits falling off and the like.
The tree in the lane is sorted. A kind neighbour attacked it with a chainsaw while standing on some scaffolding while his son dragged away the bits and I did traffic duty. Rather surprisingly I have very good neighbours in spite of the way I treat them all.
The phone is sorted and is now fully charged. Though maybe sorted is a bit optimistic as I still haven’t worked out some of the finer details of how the fucking thing works. It’s the same operating system as my old one so it should be the same but it isn’t.
One of the yokes that is missing is a little row of buttons at the bottom of the screen. One was a “back” button, one was a “show home screen” button and the last was a button that displayed all the programmes that were currently running. That last one was great as I could switch between programmes or close individual ones. I know there is a way of showing all the running programmes as I just found it accidentally. The problem is that I haven’t a clue how I did it.
Never mind. I can use it as a phone and can send and receive text messages. The camera is a little more powerful and I have to explore that to the point of breaking it. At least I managed to rescue all my old photographs which is a double edged sword – most of them are rubbish. The new phone has three lenses on the back instead of the old two. I have yet to work out what the third one does. Exciting times.
Herself is a bit pissed off with me as I keep playing different alarm tones and ring tones and some other tones and she keeps telling me to shut the fuck up. I’m going to try giving her my old one [if I can charge the battery]. That will be fun. She hasn’t used a touch screen before apart from her Kindle.
I’ll have to remove a few contact numbers first though.
[*cough*]
Do a search for “Navigation Bar” in settings and select “Navigation Buttons”.
Sadly it wasn’t that simple. I did find it in the end, buried deep in a hard to find corner.
“Herself is a bit pissed off with me as I keep playing different alarm tones and ring tones and some other tones and she keeps telling me to shut the fuck up.”
She sounds a fine lady.
At that stage I was pissing myself off. The selection they give for ringtones and alarms are all either very strident or very tacky. I think I’ll end up making my own ringtones which worked well before.
