On being reborn
In case anyone is wondering [which I doubt], there have been a couple of changes here.
I am in the process of rebuilding the site from scratch, and the general idea is that a ton or two of old crap will be left behind on the old site, which I can delete.
So far I have rebuilt all the posts and comments, and have more or less replicated the layout. There are more than a couple of tweaks to be done yet, so if something doesn’t work it’s probably because I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Be patient. I have to do the important things first and am working my way down the list.
Sure it’s pissing down outside, so what else would I be doing?
Pissing down here as well (Cambridge, evening) – but had a good fly about during the day, before the front arrived.

Quite a successful drop of tinkering, methinks. All moved onto a new server with many megabytes of files and database to be left out for the binmen [or should that be binpersons?]. Everything seems to be running reasonably smoothly but still have some checks to be done…..
It was a day for tinkering. I backed up my home folder yesterday and did a clean install of Mint 19 64bit and the newest copy of Waterfox this morning. Well after a few screwups and their eventual fixing I got Mint running very well and I seem happy with it. Waterfox is another story. It’s nothing I can put my finger on it just doesn’t feel right. I’ll play around some more with the new OS as well as Waterfox and report back later.
Looks okay from here. And please excuse my absence of late. Our friend’s (who knows nothing about computers and refuses to learn) computer died from a combination of excessive dirt and YouTube. And The Wife and I have spent the last week or so getting her a new one and me backing up her data and setting up (shudder) Windows 10 on the new one. No, she won’t consider Mint. Needless to say, I’m knackered! I can’t believe I used to do this for a living.
