A move too far
The world continues to spiral down into a black hole of insanity.
I used to be what was generally termed a Liberal. The older I get though, the more radical and anarchistic I seem to become.
What the fuck is it with all these movements? We have the Feminists, the Vegans, the Healthists, the Climate mob, the LGBTAlphaOmega crowd and others all crawling from under their rocks and demanding our attention and immediate action. It really has descended into total farce.
For example there was apparently a trivial [if rather nauseating] incident during the week on one of those horrible reality shows where a transgender made advances on a bloke and started screaming “transphobia” because those advances were rejected. Fucking hell! If I wasn’t transphobic before, I am rapidly becoming one now. Frankly if some ugly person with a baritone voice and a snide agenda made advances on me, I’d run a fucking mile. I have my standards even if they don’t fit in with the PC generation.
Then there is the current craze of the Feminists, ever since someone made a complaint about sexual harassment in Hollywood. Now I don’t agree with harassment but the latest movement has become more than a little tiresome. The more they scream about #MeToo [I honestly haven’t a fucking clue what that’s about] the less sympathetic I become to their cause, and at this stage my sympathy is all but gone altogether.
This morning I had a mail from that Avaaz gang screaming at me that the planet is doomed [“Doomed, I say. Doooomed!”] because we are eating meat and that we all must become Vegan. This is another movement that makes me want to rush off to the butchers and stock up on as much meat as the freezer will take.
I am tempted to start a couple of movements of my own. It seems to be the thing to do these days. No matter what your little gripe is, start a movement and you’ll instantly fire up the Keyboard Warriors into a frenzy of demands, even if they haven’t a clue what your gripe is about.
Let’s start with an “Eat a Vegan” month?
Only if you can recommend the appropriate sauce with which to drench the vegan – oh, and do you (or Mrs HR) have any favourite recipes?
How about Vegan Vindaloo? Has to be served on white rice though – none of that tree-hugger brown rice.
I imagine the name on a menu would attract a few customers thinking it was meat-free? 😈
I have a passing interest in Transgender ‘issues’ as my childhood ‘best friend’ is now called ‘sue’ not ‘steve’, so fool that I am I followed the link.
Some people are too stupid to be allowed to ‘transition’ and in what Snowflakey universe is a woman forcing a kiss on a man NOT sexual harassment?
The problem with just about all these movements is that equality means they are more equal than anyone else. That’s the bit that really gets under my skin.
Generation E as Entitled? Or should that be ENTITLED?
Generation W, as in Whinge or Whine.
An interesting article I just read on the subject of MeToo. They must have read my scribble?
Agenda bender.
Sums the nonsense up perfectly.
Your blog today made me think of this bit by W.B. Yeats GD. Written in 1920.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Hmmm, let’s see now. I’m a monogamous, heterosexual white male–always have been. So I guess that makes me a transphobic, white supremacist, 2 gender and that’s it, non-vegan, animal slaughtering, carnivore who only eats meat and nothing else, womanising sex abuser?
