An obvious solution
As some of you may remember, I got a new laptop a week or so ago.
I had some slight little problems that took me a mere four or five days, a nervous breakdown and only two bottles of Valium to sort out.
I did however have a chuckle at one stage.
Many many years ago, I remember messing around with an old PC. I switched it on at one stage and it came up with the little error message “Keyboard not found. Press any key to continue.”
Sadly in the intervening years I thought they had sorted out those idiotic little messages.
I am delighted to see they haven’t!
In the course of fighting with Windows and trying to install the damn thing it tried to connect to the Interweb.
It failed [as I knew it would, because I hadn’t installed the drivers and the fucking thing is useless anyway].
It offered a couple of solutions such as searching my hard drive for drivers [which couldn’t be there because I had formatted the fucking thing], but one of the options actually revived my faith in the idiocy of programmers in Microsoft –
“Try on-line for a solution?”
The sad part is you are still slightly addicted to Windows…it was you who assisted me greatly in making the jump to Mint. Well you and three suicidal hard drives but honestly it was your Linux tales that got me into the original dual boot that you still have on and for that I thank you.
Definitely NOT an addiction! There are a couple of programmes I use which require a base installation of Windows. In other words, I can’t use VirtualBox or Wine. The main reason I installed it though was sheer stubbornness – I was going to install that fucking thing even if it killed me. Also it gives me something to moan about occasionally?
It's comforting to know that Windows hasn't done away with it's singular tradition of being amazingly short sighted. I'm a bit surprised that it didn't tell you to press the "Reset" button on your computer (remember them?).
