Losing the thread
Today is a funny day.
That is funny peculiar rather than funny ha ha.
For a start, it’s a non-day which doesn’t really exist but that’s okay because I still exist. For the moment anyway.
Then there is Storm Jorge which isn’t pronounced as you may imagine Storm George but rather Storm Ho Hay or He Haw or even Hoo Ha. What bright spark let Portugal into the game of naming storms? Anyway there’s a bit of a breeze out there at the moment and I see there is some rain just creeping in over the mountain tops. Another normal Spring day.
And the radio [wot I can hear from Herself’s ward] is full of advice as to what to do when we catch this infamous bug. They are in a panic now that there’s a case in Norn Iron and they are even fumigating trains between Dublin and Belfast.
But the big news is that my pipe broke. Yes – that lovely piece of engineering hand crafted by my pal Elie has had it. The threads are gone on the pipe’s body so I can’t attach the bowl without it falling off again. The threads went in the screw a while ago but Elie sent me a couple of spares, but threads in the body are a different kettle of elephants.
I have had to order a new one, but he doesn’t make that type any more. There is one listed on his website but apparently that’s my one which he forgot to remove from the site. So I have ordered a completely different one which looks spectacular on the site and is bound to be the subject of comment down at the coffee shop.
Now I think I’ll have a nap .
Wake me when this strange day is over.
I think Jorge was named by the Spanish Met Office, but I could be wrong. Don't want to be upsetting our Portuguese friends. They're the only ones that aren't planning to take revenge on the UK.
I thought it was the Portuguese. Never mind. Iberian covers it nicely.
I have a terrible headache so I think I'll postpone commenting on this post until tomorrow (wanders off to find the bottle of Excedrine).
That's what you get for reading my scribbles.
Could be but my wife's been telling me I don't drink enough water. Maybe it's both?
Ah, no. Not the churchwarden! Its loss must feel like something of a bereavement 🙁
No. Not the churchwarden [my Gandalf one?]. It's the smaller silver one that was my constant companion as it was small enough to fit in my pocket and it had all the filters and traps to give a lovely cool dry smoke. I have since semi-repaired it so it should work at least until I get the new one. And wait until you see the new one!
