A puzzling puzzle
I came into possession of a little gift during the week.
This was of little surprise as it was after all the anniversary of one of Ireland’s greatest literary giants [I’m sure I’ll be recognised as such in the centuries to come].
This little gift gave me pause for thought. Would I be up to the challenge? After all, it’s only a few sheets of plywood, but there are no instructions apart from reams of little diagrams so I have to interpret those to the best of my ability.
The contents of the box:
For once, I’m a little nervous of this one. Will I have the patience? Can I translate their little diagrams?
What will it look like when it’s finished?
What the fuck is it?
I’d say it’s a decorative clock.
Is there a prize?
Close but no prize. Don’t worry – there is no prize.
I think it is just a mechanical puzzle, a marble run by Robotime-ROKR (https://www.robotimeonline.com)
Damn! I knew I should’nt have included the steel balls in the photograph. Spot on! I’m impressed.
As a bonus, if you don’t get around to putting it together, you have a nifty set of small templates that may come in handy at some point.
It does look a little like a Spirograph. It could also make great kindling?
Grandpa if you manage to assemble it,what on earth is it going to be ?
KJP [above] got it straight away which surprised me. It is indeed a marble run.
I foresee a good deal of bad language and strange oaths.
Actually, it’s quite therapeutic. I have assembled some of it and everything works so far but there’s a long way to go yet. Not even one moment of frustration.
But, how many nips at the Jameson jug?
Hah! None. You’d need to be stone cold sober with very steady hands. The Jameson’s comes out after.
