Death and taxes
I am doing it again.
With the inevitability of taxes and as night follows day I have decided to fuck up my laptop.
I don’t know why I do it. I suppose it’s the gene that compels a lot of blokes to dismantle things to see how they work. I know that many times in the past I have reduced something to its constituent parts and reassembled it simply to see how it functioned even though it had been working perfectly. I have a wonderful collection of screws and bolts as a result but I haven’t actually broken anything yet.
This time, they made the mistake of announcing a new release of Linux Mint [Beta]. Immediately I felt it – that irresistible urge to install it despite dire warnings that it’s only at the testing stage.
I know I shouldn’t do it.
I know I will probably regret it.
Here goes……………….
Best of luck to you sir.
A combination of luck and skill. It was a smooth transition and nothing was broken. Yet………..
Well Grandad, first off, pardon my omission of the skill component. You are here this morning so apparently you were successful.
I stopped trying the beta altogether although I do read the Linux Mint blog posts about new features and such. I just lost sorta interest in such things which is a polite way of saying my mind is slowly but surely going to pot.
The sad thing about updates, in particular Mint and WordPress is that the new version is almost indistinguishable from the old. The only real and noticeable change is in Hypnotix which is a programme I never use. It was a moment of boredom and just fucked up my customised Grub!
