A proxy voice from the grave
I’m feeling a bit bad at the moment.
A few weeks ago I received a mail. Now I receive dozens of mails so I tend to flick through them and mark them as spam, or delete them or even occasionally read them. I’m already receiving crap from various companies that I normally deal with, but they have already started banging out their Christmas offerings.
But back to the mail in question.
I received it yesterday and I ignored it as it wasn’t a familiar address, but the content was a tad unusual –
I sent you an email two weeks ago but you are not reply. How are you? Are you ok?
I sent you email 4 days ago about my website. Because I will go to work in Corfu on 5th July and back in the end of October. Not be able to work on my website. What is the best to do for that? You’re not reply. Are you ok? Normally you will reply within 1 day.I hope you’re ok.
I had ignored this one as at first glance I had thought it was someone offering their services. Quite often they stick something in to imply we are already doing business. Cute buggers! Anyhows, because I had started on my little investigation I went back four days and found the original mail. Luckily I don’t delete stuff very often.
I won’t quote the original mail but something in it caught my eye – a reverence to “Kevin’s blog”. Holy shit! The penny finally dropped. She was talking about Nisakimans’s site. The person I was ignoring was Kevin’s [i.e. Nisakiman’s] wife. Amongst other things she is talking about reinstating Nisakiman’s site.
Longstanding readers of this site [and many others] will remember Nisakiman? He was one of my most prolific visitors and sadly died in early 2021. He has his own site which I tended for him and I still have the archives of that site, along with an archive of his wife’s site.
Now you know why I feel bad at ignoring those mails.
The problem now is that I am very reluctant to add more sites to my little stable. If anything, I’d like to shed a few.
However, I was very fond of Nisakiman and his sense of fun. He was one of the really good ones.
I have replied [and apologised].
I can only wait and see what transpires….
I remember him well, used to correspond quite a lot right up to when he was in hospital and after I heard from his daughter how much better things were when he was moved to hospice. There are so many I miss now.
I used to read his site nearly every day and loved it. Yet another blogger I sorely miss. It’s beginning to seem to me that there more bloggers I liked dead than still alive. Try to hang around a while GD.
Good on ya, auld fellah.
I hope it turns out well for all.
I have a small problem. If the site is to be reinstated, I don’t have room for it! I’d have to dump at least one other site…..
