A life of chaos — 3 Comments

  1. I only discovered in recent years that "memoirs" don not necessarily have to be (completely) true. Entire episodes complete with conversations can be presented as verbatim records.

  2. A past manager of mine always ended his presentations with wonderfully appropriate quotes from notables of history, like Disraeli, Wellington or JFK.  I asked him which quotation reference book he used to find them all, at which point he privately confessed to making them all up, on the basis that no-one could ever prove that the named, invariably long-dead, person had never said those things, so he felt quite safe to invent them post-mortem.   Same goes with an autobiography, if no-one can prove otherwise, you can fabricate your own back-story with confidence.
