How to get your man — 10 Comments

  1. I can verify your hypothesis that many females do masquerade as blonds. In my case, many decades ago, the lady in question confirmed she was indeed a brunette, however when she was born and until about age 3 she had blonde hair.

That is true with a lot of kids, however most just live with what nature gives them. In my case it helped accelerate a unilateral parting of the ways.

    • I remember when Daughter was born she had a grand full head of black hair [which also spread down her back and arms].  She was nearly eleven pounds which may explain things.  Her hair is now usually either red or purple, but sometimes green.  I'm not sure what that says about her….

  2. So the guy supposedly said, "Blondes are better" (bah, give me a brunette or a red head any day of the week) plus a couple other unsubstantiated things and it's called "gross misconduct". Really?

Then I read this post. In fact, I've read pretty much all the posts on this blog. I wonder what they would call that?

  3. The vast majority of blondes walking the streets are in fact brunettes in disguise thanks to the wonders contained in a bottle.

That reminded me of Dolly Parton: "I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb… and I also know that I'm not blonde."

It's always nice to be reminded of Dolly Parton, by the way. laugh

    • "It's always nice to be reminded of Dolly Parton, by the way."  I'll take your word for that.

  4. I and two of my brothers were tow-headed blondes as children and our hair gradually darkened to a dark blonde as we got older.  I get the dumb blonde jokes thrown at me all the time from guys and I can laugh at them.  Funny thing is that once they actually have an intelligent conversation with me they usually admit that I am quite smart.  I have an B.A. in Business and Economics with a minor in Accounting (graduated with a 4.0 GPA) and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology and graduated with a 3.9 GPA.  I also was awarded many scholastic scholarships and was on the Dean's List and President's List every semester during my college career, and now I earn more than my father or brothers ever have. I think the key is to never take yourself too seriously.  Frankly, in order for someone's opinion to matter I would first have to deeply respect that person, and some random guy throwing out an off the cuff remark like that is so insignificant.  He should have never been fired for that.  Maybe warble gloaming will melt the snowflakes?!

    • Personally the first things I look at are the eyes.  [Well, maybe the second thing?]  Hair colour doesn't affect my judgement these days as I just assume that the colour probably isn't natural.  I never went for that "blondes are dumb" thing as it is just an overworn bad joke. I imagine that Marilyn Monroe may have something to answer for there?
