  1. I very much miss the passing of tobacco advertising. They produced some of the most innovative and entertaining copy you could hope to see. Think about the Silk Cut ads in the 80s – pure brilliance! Likewise F1 sponsorship. Who can forget the splendid black and gold JPS car? Indeed, the livery of all the major tobacco sponsored cars was fantastic.

I get so angry with the mindless stupidity of the anti-tobacco obsessives who seem to control government policy. It's a well established fact that the main purpose of advertising is to try to persuade people to switch brand, and that the effect on actual take-up is minimal to zero. Which is why the whole charade of 'plain packaging' is such a pointless exercise.

They just seem intent on the uglification of anything and everything to do with smoking out of pure vandalistic, hate driven spite.

That's why out of pure vandalistic, hate driven spite I stick those ads up here.
