The old Blog Awards are on tonight.

To be quite honest, I had forgotten about ‘em until someone mentioned them during the week.

Before anyone gets excited, I am quite sure that I have reached my peak for this year, and I won’t be winning nothing.  Finalist is more than good enough and I am very happy with that.

I won’t be attending.  Apart from the simple fact that they are booked out, I discovered that it’s one of those “themed” nights where everyone is expected to dress up as someone from Cabaret.  The very thought of myself dressed up as Liza Minnelli frankly sends shudders down my spine.  The world has been spared a frightening sight.

During the week I was inundated with requests from the Digital Media Awards.  Their nominations are now open and apparently they want me to enter under the Best Blogger of the Year category.   I was a bit mystified as to why they were so keen for me to enter, so I read through their blurbs.  They want me to shell out €130!  Now this €130 is not for a black-tie awards ceremony dinner, which I suppose would be expensively reasonable for the times that are in it?  Oh no.  The €130 is for the privilege of entering the damn thing which is a bit fucking rich.  I fork out €130 [+VAT] just so I can enter a competition that I have little or no chance of winning?  If the prize was a million or two it might be worth the punt, but all they offer is the honour and the glory.  They can kiss my arse.

So tonight I shall raise a glass to all the winners and the non-winners over in Naas.

There ain’t no losers.
