A knacker’s tale
If you fall off a horse you should get straight back up again.
This seems to be the perceived wisdom though I confess I have never tried it, never having fallen off a horse.
I suppose though that this little piece of advice could be applied to my current life.
I have metaphorically fallen off now a couple of times where I found myself back in my favorite institution, the most recent being a couple of weeks ago. Each time I have bounced back with the possible exception of this trip.
I will be honest – I cannot remember ever being this exhausted before. If I sit down, I can’t get up again. The tumor in my face is literally a constant pain. My left eye feels like there is grit in it so I have to keep mopping tears out of it.
So am I getting back on the horse too early?
I don’t think so. The current Big Cheese doctor [they seem to rotate] doesn’t think so. Everyone seems happy for me, except for the fucking horse.
Maybe it’s time the old nag was melted down for glue…..
Hi GD, nice to hear you again.
Face pain, gritty eyes, tears! “Everyone seems happy for me”!
Am I getting mixed messages here?
It must be the time of year – I have a good friend who’s having problems after a knee replacement (at least it was quick, unlike your nose job). He’s very slow getting back to being himself again, so after your surgeries, I hope it’s just part of the body adjusting itself – maybe you think 29, but the body has different ideas and is telling you so (in no uncertain terms). Seriously (?) I hope your recovery is continuing apace, but I don’t understand why the medics don’t have the pain control sorted out? Be positive – your body will let you know when it’s ready to do stuff again, just don’t give up hope!
All the best,
Ian J
PS I don’t think I’d put this chapter in your autobiography! (we’re still waiting!)
Good to see a post here again grandad.
Give it time and space. At our time of life, even small stuff takes an age to repair, yours is a tad more than that, so take it gently, buddy.
I agree with the above comment, healing is slower just give it time. I’m glad you’re here.
I have to agree with the last two commenters. Healing takes time. I really hope you’re moving quickly to wellness.
Sit back and try to remove yourself from the pain.
I have dropped your name with a couple of old ladies who have put you on a few prayer lists. A prayer list is a thing that old ladies all hook up on facebook and exchange names of people to pray for them.
I hope it helps.
I am sending prayers and good vibes your way each and every day.
