A multi-weather hazard event
I’m just back from the coffee shop.
Normally I would be found there around four in the afternoon but today is special.
You see, we are about to experience a “multi-weather hazard event“. Scary stuff, what? It sounds like a subtitle of a Hollywood disaster film? Leastwise, I had to get down to the village before being totally cut off from civilisation.
I do concede that I tend to be a little cynical when it comes to weather forecasting. That’s because they tend to exaggerate everything so that “severe thunderstorms” might mean one or two distant rumbles. This time I am prepared to stick my neck out and say that yes, there will probably be snow tonight. I use the same forecasting model as the met crowd, and the model predicts quite a substantial fall of snow over the next while.
But I think describing a snow fall as a multi-weather hazard event is laying it on a bit thick. Luckily the Interwebs is here to tell us how to cope with this impending doomsday scenario .
How on earth did we survive before the Interwebs?
Didn’t you realise that when Tony Blair was elected in 1997, that was year zero ,nothing ever happened before that and everything was invented after that. I don’t know who your equivalent of the slug Blair was but no doubt they were just as disingenuous.
I supposem the Haughey era was Irelands equivalent. They were very dark days.
“How on earth did we survive before the Interwebs?”
When I started out in the telecoms business we didn’t have phones with push button keypads. A rotary dial and a bell was your lot…
I remember seeing a video of two American college kids who were presented with an old dial phone. They hadn’t a clue how to work it and weren’t even that sure as to its purpose.
“A rotary dial and a bell was your lot” Don’t forget the wire to the handpiece that could never be untangled?
I thought it should be a multi-hazard weather event, but in Irish tradition we are perhaps going to have four seasons in a day.
I had the same thought. The wording just seems uncomfortable. It;s snowing now and is actually landing. It must be all of half a millimeter deep.
You’ll get clouds, rain, snow and maybe some hail. Later, the snow will change to slush and probably ice. If that’s not multi-weather, I don’t know what is.
Which one is the hazard?
Which one do you like least? That one. 😀
