Back in business
Well, maybe not in quite full swing but it’s a start.
Before I go any further I have a small problem that may somewhat hinder my scribbling – I can’t see the fucking screen! I need a little bit of ocular help in the normal course of life [I wear glasses] but glasses require a nose upon which to rest but I am recently somewhat lacking in the nasal area. They went and cut it off.
The last couple of days have been spectacularly boring. Sadly the nights haven’t been much better and last night I didn’t sleep a wink. Hospitals are all about noise. I have an air conditioner beside my bed which makes a right racket, and phones and alarms go off at regular intervals. I don’t know what the alarms are – I assume patients pleading for help that seldom seems to arrive.
Having said that, the staff are plentiful and great. Every now and then a new one pops in and says they are my assigned somethingorother. I have several physiotherapists, a dietician [!], doctors and nurses, all eager to coax me back to health.
And talking of health, I now have a stiff neck from peering at the screen.
I had better stop.
It’s bad for my health.
Glad to hear
Great news, long may it continue….. well done young man x
My heart is filled with joy to see your post so soon. You are tough and an inspiration.
Welcome back from the brink of the abyss. I was worried about you.
A pair of monocles? Goggles with prescription lenses? That’s trivia.
What matters is that you’re on the road back, you may have sensed the sighs of relief we’ve all exuded out here.
Well done, pal, just keep improving.
At least the old brain is fully functioning (yours, not mine) – you’ve got me wondering how a physio can help after your op – I can’t imagine the exercises needed! – oh! they must be for your neck…
I’m sure Heath Robinson designed a glasses holder for people w/o a nose – perhaps we out here can come up with something!
Seriously, it’s good to learn you’re getting along well, Keep it up!

PS How do you smell?
(sorry, couldn’t resist)
Have already designed a Heath Robinson style yoke. Haven’t tried it out yet though.
Have you considered contact lenses? I’m long sighted and wear multi-focal lenses, they work a treat (and don’t need a nose).
I need a somewhat sooner fix!
Thank God!!!!!
What about a lorgnette suspended from an elastic band of the type used for holding a head light ?
I imagine my head light — by Blue Mountain — would be adaptable.

You are on your way to recovery grandad. New things to learn, new things to get used to.
Fantastic news, delighted to hear you’re back in business and survived the operation
Glad to see that you’re back to your normal irascible self. Hurrah!
Great to have you back scribing, noses are greatly overrated I’ve always thought .
Bear up and keep going.
I am overjoyed to hear this. Such very good news.
Give ‘em hell!
And I’m so happy you are with us, on the right side, and soon to improve greatly.
That was quick. Well done!
Great news, Grandad!
Keep getting better!
Good to see you back. Many mobile phones will now allow you to transcribe speech into text although to results can be erratic.
Perhaps one of your assigned somethingorothers can be persuaded to take dictation – for the sake of your mental health of course.
Good to see you back!
My fingers were crossed.
