Playing Pass the Parcel
I think I mentioned a while back that I bought a new watch?
I’m very happy with it and I’m delighted I bought it.
However I don’t like the strap. It’s cheap looking and the tail keeps catching in things. I preferred my old steel bracelet.
Now the more astute of you will suggest that I just switch the bracelet off my old watch onto the new one? However there is a problem there – I gave my old watch to Herself thinking I’d switch the strap/bracelet later. But of course Herself prefers the bracelet and is refusing to part with it. I should have seen that coming.
Anyhows I ordered a bracelet online on eBay. It was a simple procedure and didn’t cost anything significant. Grand.
The order went through smoothly and I got an email from the vendor thanking me and enclosing a tracking code. I like those codes as I can check progress. That was on March 1st.
I put in the tracking code and eventually I got a message after periodic attempts –
07/03 – Sent to Ireland. Great. It’s on its way.
15.03 – Your delivery was received by An Post in Dublin. A tad slow but it’s getting there. [An Post is the Irish postal service in case you hadn’t gathered]
15.03 – We have your post in Dublin. Well, yes. You already told me.
15.03 – Your delivery has been sorted. Three messages in one day? There’s efficiency?
27.03 – We could not deliver your post. We will try to return it to the sender. What the fuck? What the fuck is wrong with you? The address was perfectly okay and even had the postal code in it. And why did it take 12 days to not arrive?
01.04 – Undelivered to addressee overseas and will be returned to the sender. What the fuck is going on here? Sending it back? Why?
01.04 – Your post has left An Post. Shit! Going where? Is it being redelivered here or is it going back to the vendor? Is this an April Fools thing?
So now I don’t know where it’s heading. Is it coming here or going back? I suppose I will just have to wait for the next message.
Or I could always switch bracelets/strap with the one I gave Herself?
A threat of force might persuade her?
It takes 8-9 weeks now for stuff to arrive from Britain. I sound anti-social when I tell people not to send me anything!
I’m not sure where exactly they are based. However it did arrive in Ireland [apparently] so God only knows why it wasn’t delivered. Maybe they got here, found the gate was shut and couldn’t be arsed to open it?
