A bit of a diversion
It’s Daughter’s birthday this coming weekend.
Being the gentleman that I am, I won’t mention her age [but she’s catching up on me rapidly].
The point is that she has asked for a specific present. She wants money. However the money she wants is not for herself but rather a charity.
As some of you may remember, Grandson the Elder was born with Cerebral Palsy. He was severely handicapped and required the full twenty four hour care and attention, which naturally our Glorious Gubmint didn’t want to know about. This is where the Jack and Jill Foundation stepped in.
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation was set up to provide care and respite for families with handicapped children. They were an absolute life-saver for Daughter as she had a nurse on call and also was provided with desperately needed respite. I got to know the founder – Jonathan Irwin – who was a lovely gentle man. I even designed a website for them [since replaced].
Grandson the Elder passed away two years ago [the second anniversary was last Friday] just after his twenty first birthday. I’ sure it’s in his memory that Daughter has launched a little modest fundraiser. I nearly missed it as it’s on Farcebook and it was Herself who discovered it. She’s trying to raise a modest €200 which shouldn’t be too difficult and I thought she might like a secret drop of advertising.
If any of you have a couple of coins to chuck in? I’m not ashamed to beg.
Thanks.
Grandad O’Peia.
I attempted to donate via your link and was unable to do so. The link came up but the donate button didn’t work. I figured it was because I don’t have a farcebook account or the fact that I have am in the US and they are unable convert dollars to euros. Either way would someone toss in a twenty for me. Many thanks in advance.
