Normally I dislike a queue.
On this occasion though I am quite happy to stand to one side and let other people go ahead and get served in front of me.
I know there is going to be a queue as people have been whipped up into a frenzy of anxiety and are all desperate to get themselves vaccinated against the Virus. They have been assured that this new type of vaccination – the mRNA one – is perfectly safe so that’s grand. They have been told by the gubmint and Big Pharma no less that it’ll be fine and we all trust the gubmint and Big Pharma, don’t we?
However I must confess to having a small reservation. This mRNA thing is new and it fucks around with the body’s cells telling ’em to to produce antigens. This sounds fantastic except for one little thing – I don’t trust it. Grand, it’s ninety something percent effective against the Virus but what else is it capable of? I’m quite happy with my DNAs and my RNAs as they stand and am a little wary of anything that might change them.
So on one side we have the gubmint doing what they do best – trying to garner votes – imagine the kudos of being the Party That Killed The Virus?
Also there is Big Pharma doing what they do best – making billion dollar products and stuffing their coffers.
On the other side of the argument there are the opinions of people what actually have no vested interests but know all about these Anitigens and RNA thingies [I’m looking at you, Leggy]. It’s strange, but I tend to trust people more if they’re not trying to screw me.
Then there is my own inbuilt instinct which has served me well up until now. My instinct screams at me that these new vaccines are all very well now, but what about a few years time? They are less than a year old so how can they possibly test for long term effects?
So I shall sit back and watch the guinea-pigs in the UK with interest.
I can wait.
