Covid Madness — 5 Comments

  1. Ireland is a lovely country. Now is your chance to see the extra nice bits without hordes of very welcome but annoying natives of other lands getting in your way.

The staff and owners of restaurants, etc. might even be less snooty and condescending to a lowly Irish native.

Gowaan. It could be your last chance to go about your own country without being continuously photographed as a photogenic real Oirish rustic.

    • Hah!  I think I have discovered just about all the best spots in Ireland:

They just represent holidays that I remember over the last 45 years.  Some holidays were so good I don't remember them at all.

  2. Remember that virtual reality stuff I mentioned to you the other day, it's not just for porn. You can visit us here in San Francisco without traveling to San Francisco, and do so in your underwear. Granted it's not the same, except for the underwear part because it's not uncommon to see locals walk around on nice days wearing just that, or not even that. You probably won't find that part on any YouTube VR videos.

I have a question regarding your comments. When I make one, I'm given three choices, copy/pasted below…

Notify me of follow-up comments by email.

Notify me of new posts by email.

Notify me of followup comments via e-mail. You can also subscribe without commenting.

So first of all, it's really two choices because #1 and #3 look to be the same, although at the end of #3 it gives you a choice of subscribing without commenting, although I can't imagine why I would. But I guess there really are three choices. But the main question is, if I comment and don't tick any of those, will I still get your reply in the email? I'd rather not have to come back to look for it, because as amusing as your blog is, it's hard to whip that VR helmet off and on all day just for things like that.

As an experiment I'm not ticking any of them for this comment. I hope you reply, but you don't have to. But you always do, so you probably will.

    Okay then.

    • I can cruise 'Cisco easily enough on Google Earth.  The advantage of that is that I don't have to wear a silly headset.

I didn't know about that subscription thing as it doesn't appear for me.  There is presumably an assumption that I don't need reminding about my own comments?  Thanks for pointing it out.  There must be two plugins trying to do the same job!

      • Yep, no reply from you emailed, I was waiting for you to publish another post, so upon receiving that I came over to look at this one. Sure enough, you replied, so for other readers too, yes you have to tick the 'notify me' box if you want grandad's snarky answer lol. Which one to tick is the question, since there are two that say the same thing.

BTW, I always keep a stand-by different browser on my laptop logged-in on a different Google account. I have it bookmarked so I can look at my own site without being logged into WordPress, if I'm curious about how something is presenting to a 'happens along' reader. I use Chrome for main, and the standby is Firefox. Both of these also allow you to open anything in an 'incognito' mode too, which will ignore your log-ins for the same reason. I just find it easier to use the alternative browser. Just an idea.
