They is word of the decade — 10 Comments

  1. Well it's a knock on the door at three in the morning for you sunshine.

Been nice knowing you. Good luck.

  2. I feel your pain about this crap. I did some serious theater during my high school days as well as a few years after and I was convinced that some of the best (male) actors back then were gay. So what? These guys were still referred to as "he" and "him" whether they preferred the company of men or wanted to be a woman. They were still male and they had no problem with that.

We had two homosexuals on the sub I rode on. One was a "flame" and the other just another guy unless he actually told you he was gay. So what? No one on board had a problem with either one of them and they referred to themselves as male. As long as they did the job, that's all that mattered.

These days? I swear I can't stand it. There are two physical genders as far as humans are concerned; male and female. That's it. Anything else is a choice–not another type of gender.

    • Homosexuality was rampant in RTE [what is it about the performing arts?] of both genders.  Some were overtly "gay" while others weren't.  It didn't bother me one way or another.  Why should it?  Like your own past, if they did their job then it didn't matter a damn.

  3. Methinks anyone who declares themselves neither male or female could be identified as “zit”.

  4. In Canada it is (I believe), a criminal offence to fail to use any person's preferred personal pronoun even if you don't know what it is. Careers have been destroyed because of this.

And beware an  investigation for "hurty feelings" hate speech if you are silly enough to mock this clap trap.  Oh god what have I just done?  That could be a knock on my door.

    • I have heard that all right about Canada.  That is elevating political correctness to the level of insanity.

And now I get the comment about the knock on the door!  I'm getting a bit slow these days.

  5. Only slightly related. But I also hate the use of you's instead of you,  Euros instead of Euro and ones! in the context of. "I was collectnig those ones". OR "will you get me the ones from over there".  Is it really that difficult to speak reasonably accurately? People are even typing like this!  "I hope youse have a happy new year".  FUCK OFF!

Back on the topic of they. I feel like giving "them" a swift kick in the nuts for all this bullshit. Him or her. Ass whole.  that will do fine too.

Sorry for the rant. But you've hit a nerve with that post.

    • I don't mind the "youse" one too much, probably because I have become too used to it.  It is more of a colloquialism than bad grammar, along with "done" and "seen" instead of "did" and "saw" [both of which grate a bit on my nerves].  It's a fine line between dialect and good grammar!
