Strange news reporting — 6 Comments

  1. I just checked myself and yup, there was no "Catholic" mentioned in the original. He simply said, "…parish priest…". Just goes to further prove that it doesn't pay to take the news, broadcast, printed or otherwise, at face value any longer. In fact, you haven't been able to since they replaced professional news anchors with actors and models and professional journalists with tabloid hacks.

Manipulation, hype and click-bait, reigns supreme.

  2. The assumption that "parish priest" must refer to Roman Catholics arises from the sectarian attitude of the papacy which says that the Church of Ireland clergy are not priests, despite them having been ordained as such, and that "parish" must refer to a Roman Catholic area, despite the Church of Ireland having parishes which generally bear the ancient names of the parish,

    • I appreciate that, but nevertheless he never explicitly mentioned "Catholic" so I was baffled as to why RTE persisted in claiming that he had.
