The last few days have been somewhat random.
Things keep cropping up unexpectedly which is nice. I don’t like boring routine.
Thursday night I dropped down to the pub. It wasn’t planned – just a spur of the moment thing – I just felt like a quiet pint. The place was fucking packed! Did they all forget that pubs now open on Good Friday, and there is no need to panic-drink? Anyways, it’s so long since I was last in most of the regulars had forgotten me. How quickly they forget?
On Friday the builders descended on the Manor once more to finish wrecking the Back Room. I wasn’t expecting them either. Anyways, they finished their part of the job and then drank all my tea supplies while telling me endless stories in Polish. I hope I laughed in the right places…
Saturday was the one day that was sort of planned. I had decided that it was time to cut the grass for the first time since last summer. It was looking a little shabby to put it very mildly. Let’s just say that Cat kept getting lost.
So I trundled out the tractor. The front tyre was flat. Fuck!! I hate those tubeless tyres. So I had to go through the routine of removing the wheel and then fighting it with a foot pump. Miraculously I managed to get it inflated in less than half an hour which was staggering. I certainly was staggering. So I put the wheel back on and then found the battery was flat. Fuck that. End of mowing for the day.
Seeing as I had an afternoon free I decided to reassemble a large heavy desk in the Back Room. The bits of it had been cluttering up various rooms and I was pissed off with the sight of them. It’s an incredibly heavy piece of kit so I struggled with the first few bits and got them assembled. I then discovered that I couldn’t proceed any further as I had assembled the heavy bits too close to the wall so I couldn’t reach the screws. Fuck! I’ll have to disassemble it all again and move it out, reassemble it in the middle of the room and then try to move it back again. I just know it will be too heavy to move.
Last night Daughter and the New Boyfriend turned up. He seems like a nice lad. He’s a lot better than the last one but then it would be almost impossible to be worse. They brought their two dogs, so chaos ensued. One of the dogs [a sort of miniature Pit Bull] tried to hump Penny. It’s the first time I have ever seen her turn vicious. Fair play to her. If someone tried to hump me unexpectedly I expect I would have the same reaction.
Today I plan on demolishing some chocolate.
But then the grass has grown some more and there is rain on the horizon so I had better make another attempt at cutting it.
I bet the engine blows a gasket.
