  1. A century ago, the use of a mild swearword like “damn” was frowned upon. However, I thought the world had now accepted that people do, from time to time, use swearwords? Yes, overuse can become irritating. But, judiciously employed, such words can add a quite potent emphasis.

What does annoy the hell out of me, in the 21st century, is the many American sources who invent silly, coy, euphemisms for genitalia. Or feel obliged to mask the perfectly common, and inoffensive, “bullshit’ with a rash of *****.

    • The asterisk in the middle of a word is an abomination and I regret I ever used it.  In fact I have a good mind to go back over all my previous 105 instances and remove it.  Another project for the programmer…..

  2. You’re in illustrious company GD. Nothing to be ashamed of. General George Patton was famous for his swearing.

“When I want my men to remember something important, to really make it stick, I give it to them double dirty. It may not sound nice to some bunch of little old ladies at an afternoon tea party, but it helps my soldiers to remember. You can’t run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity. An army without profanity couldn’t fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag. … As for the types of comments I make, sometimes I just, By God, get carried away with my own eloquence.”

    • I seem to be in illustrious company then?

As for the types of comments I make, sometimes I just, By God, get carried away with my own eloquence.

      That sums me up nicely?
