New Year Resolutions and all that — 6 Comments

  1. A resolution can be defined as 'the action of solving a problem or contentious matter.' The biggest contentious matter for me in the last twelve months is that I have not made half enough time to get down to the boozer, particularly during the week. So for 2016, I am going to make a supreme effort to resolve that. You see, it's all in having the right resolution and sticking to it.

    • When I have business to discuss I sometimes order coffee at my local. In early December a free mince pie was served along with the coffee.

  2. On this subject, as indeed on many others, we seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet, GD.

I've always regarded this whole 'New Year's Resolutions' malarkey as a pointless exercise. Apart from when I was a child and knew no better, I have never made any 'Resolutions' for New Year.

I don't need excuses to make decisions about my life. If I decide to do (or not do) something, then I get on with it. The time of year doesn't come into the equation in any way, shape or form.

  3. To be honest about it, I've never been one to make New Year's resolutions therefor I've always been able to keep them–meaning the ones I don't make. In fact, I usually have to be reminded that the next day (week, month) is a New Year–by my bank for the most part for dating checks for the wrong year.

Of course, I could make a resolution not to date my checks incorrectly after December 31st but…wait…is it the New Year yet?

    Shit.
