Celebrating Earth Day — 11 Comments

  1. To the theme Ode to Joyful –

Joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment

Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love throughout all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love throughout all time
With our gentle hand and touch

We make our home a newborn world

    And (brace yourself) –

    Today is St George's Day!

    • Fuck!  That is nauseating!  And yer wan can't sing for fuck either.

There is a lump of granite just outside the door here.  Maybe I should recite some poetry at it?  I'm sure it will love me forever as a result.

  2. The earth is only beautiful cause we say it is i offen wonder if these nilistic idoits ever relise that with out us to give earth meaning it really is nothing but an uncareing lump of dirt trees and water spinning around an uncareing sun till the universe dies.

In short enjoy your life give meaning to what you feel deserves it but dont impose that on others with your rock worshiping retardation or back slap to hard in your devotion to an uncaring ball of nothing …..Its kinda like worshiping mary harny

  3. "Its kinda like worshiping mary harny"  Hah!  Brilliant!  Mind you – that's a bit of an insult to our beloved planet?

  4. That should do some nice things to the environment?

Think of all the reductions in CO2 because commercial air traffic gets grounded for weeks.

    I jest….

  5. Remember the laughs when someone calculated the damage Al Gore does to the ozone with all his trips on environmental protests? Worst was that the fat chancer won't even fly commercial, needs to rent an entire private Boeing for his entourage.

Fecks sake – if you're that worried about the ozone layer why not just ring your fellow political parasites up and moan, not pack out a jumbo jet?

Another big irony, as that website which used to track fake NGO charities showed, is the vast majority of their funding is from governments anyway, so effectively we've all paid for their expensive jaunts once – and twice if you were ever fool enough to stick money in one of their collecting tins.

  6. Mother Earth can be like a big sow that devours her own farrow. Thank you for the simile, James Joyce.

Shakespeare got it right in King Lear when the tragic king effs and blinds the violence of nature:

Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow!

    You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout

Till you have drench’d our steeples, drown’d the cocks!

            5

    You sulphurous and thought-executing fires,

    Vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts,

Singe my white head! And thou, all-shaking thunder,

Strike flat the thick rotundity o’ the world!

I've enjoyed the sunny weather of the past five days, but when the heavens pour down on us over the coming weekend I'll feel like pissing on the rain.

  7. I ignored it for reasons pertaining to dynamic equilibrium,  black body radiation plus the laws of thermodynamics.
