Happy new whatever — 13 Comments

  1. I am pretty sure that you have repeated last years post word for word and just changed the date. Anyways, I wish you a happy and prosperous new year ya miserable auld twot.

  2. I’ll admit that 2010 hadn’t a lot to recommend it, but it was the year I started reading “Grandad”, and for that, happy new year you old crank !

  3. Ian – I believe in a certain level of conformity.  I therefore choose to use the suffixes -ox and -ix.

Ranty and Mick – Right back at yiz [or whatever the modern idiom is?]

TT – This day last year I [*gulp*] wished everyone a Happy New Year, and look what a fucking fiasco that was.

John – A latecomer, but welcome, none the less.  Have you regretted it yet?

  4. I’m with you Grandad.  2010 sucked!  With that said I’ll still wish you a happy new year to you and yours.

  5. Ox – oxen
Therefore bolloxen surely? No doubt the pedantic grammarians on this site will give me a right bollocking for that.
Happy New Year to yours and youren. That includes the 29th of February.

  6. Jan 1st and our road to town is open!  Happy Day!    2010 is the year I found this GD blog and cancelled the TRIP to Ireland.   Thank you, GD.

  7. Brianf – I won’t wish you a Happy New Year, as i already did last night on Skype.  I have to ration these things, you know.

Gerry – Is there a 29th of February this year?  Even though it’s not a leap year?  That should confuse a few people.  Heh!

TT – And a Happy New Year to you too.  Have you resolved to agree with me more often this year?

Willie – You make it sound like they only open the road to town on one day of the year.  Have the discovery of this site and the cancellation of your trip anything in common, or is it just a fortunate coincidence?

  8. GD-We were the unhappy recipients of a nasty late 2010 storm which closed our one road into town three days ago.  I swiped the last bottle of booze from the shelf and made it home just before the g’munt closed the road.  So, today its open! (It might have been open yesterday, but I didn’t care.)
And, Yep, I started reading Head Rambles and cancelled the TRIP.  Read into that what you might.

  9. No, there’s no 29th February this year of 2011. But it could prove to be the happiest day of the new year just commenced! It’s in the twilight zone, where Ireland is going to remain for some time.
